H.E. JENNIFER GEERLINGS-SIMONS

Her Excellency Dr. Jennifer Simons is the Speaker of the House of Parliament, the National Assembly of the Republic of Suriname. Born in 1953 in Paramaribo, the country’s capital and largest city, she received her medical degree from the Anton de Kom University of Suriname, Faculty of Medicine.

Ms. Simons serves as a Member of Parliament, and is a member of several of its committees related to public health, education, transport, communication, tourism and parliamentary businesses.

She is the Chairperson of the Association of Parliamentarians for the Development of Children and Youth. She has also served as the manager of the national AIDS and STD program.
