H.E. ESTER D. S. DLAMINI

The Honourable Ester D. S. Dlamini, MP, is the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Swaziland. She is serving her third term in Parliament having first been elected into Parliament in 2003. In the first term (2003-2008) she was a backbencher, and from 2008 to present she has served as Deputy Speaker for the two consecutive terms.

In the current Parliament, which is the 10th Parliament of the Kingdom, the Deputy Speaker is the only directly elected women representing the Mbabane East Constituency.

The Hon. Deputy Speaker is in charge of Portfolio issues of the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. She is also a Member of the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office and Housing and Urban Development Portfolio Committees. The Deputy Speaker also serves in the House Business Committee and the Finance Committee responsible for budgeting.

Before she was elected into parliament she was a policewomen for 16 years before she retired into business. She has a Bachelor of Commerce (Management) and Certificate in Business Management.
